VGMH Reviews: The Full English

The Full English is sort of like going out on a first date with a man you've just met in Great Britain.  First off, you'll meet over coffee or maybe share a couple of pints. Gradually you'll get to know him, discovering personal things like his favorite sports, what he does for a living, his interests and goals for the future.  He may arrive dressed casual but then again, by your second meeting he could be sporting a well-tailored suit and groomed haircut, just for this occasion.   Want to see some pics of him playing around and having fun?  He'll share a few candid personal shots of himself stored on his phone.  And as things progress, this confident gent winks and invites you to a private location where he starts to undress.  Every man is different when it comes to these things, and so some models at The Full English may decide to masturbate (and then again, some may not).  Of those who give it a wank, not all will take it to ejaculation, opting to just let you enjoy the view of their hard boner.  A couple of them will even bring along a woman who they have sexual relations with.  Much more funny than sexy is watching handsome Richie, 27, doing it with a 60-year old site contest winner, Margaret.  If this doesn't sound like your typical gay site, it's because it's not.  Heck, it's not even marketed as a gay site.
Right away it should be noted that The Full English is designed and intended for women.  The fact that it's intended for females gives them an opportunity to recruit men who would not otherwise pose nude for other men.  But like Playgirl magazine in its initial years, the site doesn't mind if gay men happen to also stop by and enjoy the views.   As they explain: "All our models are straight and The Full English was created essentially because there are so many straight guys wanting to get into the adult industry and very few outlets for them to do so. As most hetero sites fixate mainly on the female performers, the guys often become merely low paid extras. Most of the websites on offer to male models have strong gay themes or are geared to 'gay for pay' thus alienating a lot of amazing talent that simply goes unseen. It's actually quite a tough life for straight male actors."
There's a nice variety of guys and many of them are naturally hairy.  The men of The Full English range from amateur working guys to sportsmen to pros. Expect to see young men with big dreams, rowdy footballers, guys with aspirations to become pornstars, and others just looking to make some quick cash.  The photography is excellent and a great deal of attention is given to capturing every man in a masculine setting. There's a feeling that what is being shown is privileged and private...extremely rare for a worldwide adult sire to achieve.
There are currently 42 models who are at various stages of intimacy in sharing themselves with members of the site.  Meetings begin with portfolio photos of the gentlemen, nine portfolios (or men) to every page.  Just click on a photo to view that particular man's profile and whatever photographs or videos are currently available for him.  While it's usually the case, a portfolio doesn't always guarantee that nude photo sets for that model have been posted yet.  Updates to the site include new image sets, so the dance to erotic bliss may take a little time.  At a minimum, all of the men provide an introductory collage of what they call "private pics" which can be viewed as postcards--showing them playing around in their personal life.  While not downloadable, they are really interesting and offer a glimpse of their peronsal lives rarely seen on other sites.  A great idea!  Also very impressive are the in-depth, well written model biographies.

The first thing you will probably notice is that they do not provide sample photos of their models completely nude.  Alex at The Full English told me that some of their models don't want to discover their naked bodies displayed all over the internet.   This concept certainly worked well for Playgirl in it's early years and attracted many heterosexual men to drop their pants for women to enjoy, who otherwise may not have posed.   From a marketing standpoint that's geared towards women, this approach probably works better than it would with men, who are accustomed to "sampling the goods" before they decide to sign up with any adult site.  What the tour does offer are g-rated and censored images for every model, so visitors get the opportunity to see what types of men are waiting inside.

Because two sites are included in the price of membership, both tours should be taken before deciding to join, although this review only covers one of them (more information below).  The Full English tour promises high quality HD video, high resolution pictures, interviews, and exclusive models and content.  In the opinion of VGMH, it delivers on all counts (although it wouldn't be surprising to discover that a couple of these amateurs may have done something like this before, after all boys will be boys).

Navigation is simple and follows the tour format.  This is a photograph lover's site and the pictures range in size from about 533x800 to 800x1080.  Viewing options include a slide show which starts automatically but can be turned off.  The Full English only recently started including videos (there are tweleve of them), so don't expect one for every model. The videos are filmed in very crisp HD and display at 1280 x 720 and you can download most of them in WMV or MP4 format, or if you prefer you can stream the videos on their site.  As with all internet content, be aware that higher quality also means longer downloading times.

If there is anything that VGMH would like to see in the future, it would be adding zip files.  Currently the process involves viewing thumbnails of a model, then clicking on that thumnail which brings up a preview photo, and then clicking again to download the image.

VGMH considers The Full English to be a boutique site that will have strong appeal for a specific audience that appreciates their special approach to male erotica.  The photographs are the star of the show and they do not disappoint.  The videos combine interviews mixed with sex scenes.  The score comes in at an Excellent 91. The addition of zip files would take an already top-category rating even higher in the future.

Membership includes complimentary access to their sister site, "My Best Friend's Dad" which VGMH did not review at this time, but can be toured via The Full English.  This site offers over 20 mature British gents and should be included in any decision to join.  The price of admission to both sites is $22.95 for 30 days and then rebills at $19.95 monthly, or for a one-month only membership the cost is $24.95.  To see if this is your cup of tea, you can visit them here:

Federico García Lorca (part two)

This gay man with the dark soulful eyes and a desire for lust and love is viewed by many as being the most important Spanish poet/dramatist of the twentieth century, but nobody has to like poetry to appreciate the life and times of Federico.  Especially for VGMH friends, his experiences of living during the wonderous 1920's era are enough.  Imagine locking eyes with Federico from across a room, as this poem (he wrote) speaks of being strong enough to endure the weakness of love while understanding the illusions of sexual desire, and how quickly a simple chance meeting can change an entire life.
Sonnet of the Sweet Complaint
Never let me lose the marvel of your statue-like eyes, or the accent the solitary rose of your breath places on my cheek at night.
I am afraid of being, on this shore, a branchless trunk, and what I most regret is having no flower, pulp, or clay for the worm of my despair.
If you are my hidden treasure, if you are my cross, my dampened pain, if I am a dog, and you alone my master,   never let me lose what I have gained, and adorn the branches of your river with leaves of my estranged Autumn.
Federico García Lorca was born in 1898 in a small town a few miles from Granada, his father owned a farm his mother was a gifted pianist. His early schoolmates considered him effeminate.  In 1919, he traveled to Madrid, where he remained for the next 15 years, as he devoted himself entirely to his art and the artists he fell in love with.
Free from the Catholic teachings of his youth that filled him with self-disgust and guilt because he loved other men, Lorca organized theatrical performances, read his poems in public, and collected old folksongs.  Much of his work was infused with popular themes such as Flamenco and Gypsy cultures.  During this period García Lorca wrote El Maleficio de la mariposa (1920), a play that caused a great scandal when it was produced.  He also wrote Libro de poemas (1921), a compilation of poems based on Spanish folklore  He was also a member of Generación del 27, a radical-thinking group of men that also included Salvador Dalí and Luis Buñuel, who exposed the young poet to surrealism. In 1928, his book of verse, Romancero Gitano ("The Gypsy Ballads"), brought García Lorca far-reaching fame; it was reprinted seven times during his lifetime.

In 1929, Lorca came to New York. It was the end of the Roaring Twenties and the poet's favorite neighborhood was said to have been Harlem; he loved African-American spirituals and the legendary Harlem balls, which were unlike anything to be found anyplace else on earth.   The freedom of men in New York's gay nightclub world excited and amazed him.  It was during this period when García fell victim to an increasing depression as he felt deep anguish over the increasingly unsuccessful concealment of his being gay from both straight friends and family.
In 1930, García Lorca returned to Spain and produced many of his most famous works.  After the death of his friend (a bullfighter) García Lorca wrote Lament for the Death of a Bullfighter (1935).   In 1936, he was arrested by Franquist soldiers. After a few days in jail, soldiers joked that were taking Lorca to "visit" his brother-in-law (Manuel Fernandez Montesinos), the ex-mayor of Granada.   The soldiers had already murdered and dragged Manuel through the streets.  When they arrived at the cemetery, the soldiers forced García Lorca from the car. They struck him with the butts of their rifles and after humilating him riddled his body with bullets. His books were burned in Granada's Plaza del Carmen and were soon banned from Franco's Spain. To this day, no one knows where the body of Federico García Lorca rests.

Federico García Lorca

Never heard of him?  Most people aren't aware of Federico, but this legendary Spanish poet and playwright should be more famous than he is.  He went to college with Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí.    He had a steamy affair (how sexual it was remains in question) with Dalí, which was the subject for the 2009 movie Little Ashes  In addition to poems, he wrote plays like Blood Wedding and The House of Bernarda Alba.  Dalí said about Federico that  "He was homosexual, as everyone knows, and madly in love with me. He tried to screw me twice .... I was extremely annoyed, because I wasn’t homosexual, and I wasn’t interested in giving in. Besides, it hurts. So nothing came of it. But I felt awfully flattered vis-à-vis the prestige. Deep down I felt that he was a great poet and that I owe him a tiny bit of the Divine Dalí's asshole. He eventually bagged a young girl, and she replaced me in the sacrifice. Failing to get me to put my ass at his disposal, he swore that the girl’s sacrifice was matched by his own: it was the first time he had ever slept with a woman."  There's so much about Dali's statement that contradicts itself, but they belong to him and not Federico.
Mr. Lorca suffered severe depression and guilt about being a man who loved other men.  It's believed that he died in 1936 when soldiers dragged him into a field, shot him and tossed his body into an unmarked grave.  Franco's government tried to obliterate Lorca's memory.  His books were prohibited, his name forbidden.  His poetry has been translated into a dozen languages and his name is known worldwide.

September 1990

Personally, Matthew Boardman has the face, hair and body to be very sexy--but like heavily processed foods--something seems artificial, bland and not totally satisfying about these images.  Is it the posing/angles that look a little too-forced?  The hair styling?  A lack of emotions on an otherwise sexy man?   He has that vacant expression of a fashion mannequin.  Playgirl did put Matthew on the cover which suggests they figured he would get a lot of people to buy the issue.   Inside this issue were two models who (time would tell) continue to be popular thanks to the internet: Michael Weber and Benny Graham.  If you find this photo shoot really hot, please comment why.
Inside, they list their 10 Sexiest Men of 1990-including Michael Bolton and Jimmy Smits.
Oliver Stone and Rob Lowe also made the top ten list.

Love Plus One

Haircut 100 raised a few eyebrows (and more) when this video first showed up on MTV, showcasing the nice loin cloth covered crotch of singer Nick Heyward.  The unique camera angles were ones that we seldom get to see Tarzan spreading his legs in.  The band had a couple of mildly-popular singles between 1981 and 1982, including the hit song Love Plus One.  Then they went away.  The song was catchy, but how much of its popularity was due to the video swinger?

Will and Grace (part two)

The show that many critics thought wouldn't last a season ultimately became a highly rated television powerhouse in the United States.  Because the show was a hit , it is often credited for opening the door for other gay-themed television media, like as Queer as Folk, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Boy Meets Boy once TV executives discovered that straight audiences would watch such shows.   "The Finale" episode drew over 18 million viewers, ranking # 8 for the week.

Special guest stars on the show ocer it's run included: Kevin Bacon, Alec Baldwin, Cher, Glenn Close, Joan Collins, Macaulay Culkin, Matt Damon, Geena Davis, Ellen DeGeneres, Taye Diggs, Michael Douglas, Minnie Driver, Andy Garcia, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Demi Moore, Rosie O'Donnell, Britney Spears and Sharon Stone.

September 24th is dedicated to those special people who greatly influence our lives.  For me, that would include Joe.

Many who experience terrible events in their early years often choose not to discuss them later on.  So instead of being angry, Joe mostly looked for the positives in living and the human spirit wherever he could find them.   He rooted for the underdog sports team and was happy when they beat the odds and won.  He cried at sentimental movies.  He laughed whenever he could and always found some leftover food and shelter for the stray dog, cat or other critter that instinctively seemed to find their way to him.  Joe achieved more through his gentle quiet actions than others (including myself) often do through much louder self-serving talk.  He was modest and shy without ever trying to be.
Some leave us alone on earth and the years go by too-quickly.  True of everything else in his life, Joe passed on wth qiuet dignity.  I'm thankful that there are men like Joe, and that I was blessed to get the chance to love and know him.  Thank you for everything, especially your love.

Will and Grace

How history ultimately views this landmark vintage television series is still unknown, but there can be little doubt that in terms of gay television history it was significant.  The NBC show, which featured a slightly yuppy-ish professional lawyer who was openly gay, debuted on Monday nights September 21, 1998.  At its core, Will and Grace was a comedy series about two best friends.  The two share a special bond as they try to find joy and romance (she's straight) in their lives.  In addition to Will and Grace, the show featured Will's flamboyantly gay friend Jack, and Grace's sarcastic, spoiled, and boozy assistant, Karen.
Many gays applauded the portrayal of Will during the first few seasons.  Will did not fit the tired sitcom mold of feminine-acting gay men, who were in the script only to be made fun of.   The show wrote the character of Will as a man who people would assume was straight unless they were specifically told that he was indeed gay.  Gradually, the show gained a loyal audience and steadily grew in popularity, proved by it's eventual move to Thursday nights as part of NBC's "Must See TV" line-up of hits.

But as the series grew trendy with straight audiences, many gays complained that the characters were becoming very cartoonish and things much worse.  In particular, some believed that the part of Jack had devolved into little more than pandering to a negative stereotyped gay joke (one which the growing straight audiences would feel comfortable with and enjoy making fun of).  For these critics, the show offered people who did not want to admit they were homophobic an acceptible way to laugh at 'that fairy Jack' because the show was largely viewed as being pro-gay.

In the show's heyday, a lot of gay-related issues were unfolding in America.  The U.S. was  involved in a number of landmark same-sex rulings, such as Vermont's passage of civil union recognition for same-sex couples.  The Supreme Court ruled that 'homosexuals' need not be accepted by the Boy Scouts.   In a 1998 setback for the gay rights movement, the Supreme Court yesterday let stand a city charter amendment approved by Cincinnati's voters that allowed employers, landlords and business owners to discriminate against people based on their sexual orientation.  Policies of the Salvation Army that were prejudicial against gays were beginning to be discussed.    Depending on your viewpoint, Will and Grace either offered straight people a way to see that gay people are just like them, or it reinforced prejudices that gay men are superficial professional white men and many or effeminate flakes.

Defenders of the program pointed out that Karen Walker (Grace's assistant) was as much over-the-top as Jack McFarland (Will's flamboyant friend).  They argued that the stereotypical gay character is also the stand-out comic star and was balanced by the equally outrageous Karen in the program.  In the first episode, even Will and his friends poke fun at Jack's overt gay campiness-something gay may might do among buddies.

During Will and Grace's inaugural season, it won the People's Choice Award for Favorite New Comedy Series.  In 2000, the show won an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series. In 2002 and 2003, it had more Emmy nominations than any other sitcom.  In 2005 Will & Grace was tied as one of the most-nominated series and also scored its highest number of Emmy nominations in a single year with 15.  Over the course of the series, all four of the show's actors were rewarded with Emmy statuettes as well.  Will & Grace was also awarded seven GLAAD Media Awards, two TV Guide Awards, and one Directors Guild Award.

Two years into its run, the series had yet to show two men kissing.  As pressure from groups that wanted more realisitic views of gay life grew, the writers were also feeling network pressure not to show anything too explicit that would repulse straight viewers.   So in February 2000, the show's writers had Will (Eric McCormack) kiss pal Jack (Sean Hayes) while standing in the "Today" show audience as a protest against NBC for refusing to feature a gay kiss on a fictional prime-time TV show.  That Eric (a straight man in real life) was confident in his sexuality to kiss another man also made a strong statement that fans of the show did not ignore.  A lot has changed since then, and at least some credit for those changes needs to be given to this show for taking action, when it felt it could.

But as the show grew to become a major hit with straight people by the millions, even some of those who praised the show for it's groundbreaking courage also began to request that it push further and show TV watchers more images of what the real gay America looks and acts like (skin color, jobs, part of families that are functional and loving).   Many wondered why actor Sean Hayes, who played Jack, had not come out of the closet himself (something he would eventually do in an Advocate magazine interview titled ‘I Am Who I Am’ in 2010.  For the most part, the show was a hit for the network and there was little desire to alter a winner in the ratings (and advertising dollars).  Yet few would argue that for many young gays, the show was an important part of growing up and feeling a sense of identity, that they were indeed not the only one in the world that had their feelings and desires.

No one can deny that the show ultimately became a highly-rated television show in the United States, earning a top-twenty rating during four of its eight seasons, including one season at # 9.  As the novelty of gay men wore off with straight audiences and the scripts ran out of ideas, Will and Grace began slipped out of the top 20 during its last two seasons.

Vintage British Beefcake

Ray Swales remains a favorite on the internet, even though his name seldom gets attached to these fantastic images.   The British hunk was photographed by Scott of London, who also was known as Tom Nicoll.   Ray was also photographed by Vince of London and Derby Studios of London.  It's safe to guess that Ray was in London.

Keenan (part two)

Keenan's grip on his cock looks like he's ready to drop a special delivery on the carpeting below him.  Just this week, a news story came out that the world's largest sperm donor bank has now begun to decline the sticky-goo donations of men with red hair.  Ole Schou, the bank's director, told the Danish newspaper Ekstrabladet : “There are too many redheads in relation to demand. I do not think you chose a redhead, unless the partner — for example, the sterile male — has red hair, or because the lone woman has a preference for redheads. And that’s perhaps not so many, especially in the latter case."
According to the story, it seems that there’s only one place in the world where the sperm of red-headed men is in really hot demand: Ireland. Mr Schou said that in Ireland, the sperm from red-headed donors sold “like hot cakes.”  Lucikly for us here at VGMH, we're not exactly worried about Kennan getting us pregnant with his sperm, so he can shoot as much cum out of that ginger love stick as he wants.

According to Jason: "He's a bit of a bad boy, but there's a side of Keenan that seems that it's a little just for show. He has a sharp wit that hints that he's got more than just street smarts."  For those interested, there's a sample video of Keenan over at SpunkWorthy.
Thanks, Jason for sharing your model with us.

A surprise arrived in my email box via SpunkWorthy's Jason, who thought we might enjoy some red bush and hairy balls, courtesy of his recent model Keenan.  According to Jason, Keenan likes to jack-off everywhere he can, which has included while at work and at the gym.  Not sure if the janitors are as thrilled by the end result of his activities as he may be doing it, but considering he's masturbated up to 9 times in one day, this guy sounds like a one-man sperm ejaculating machine!  For those interested, a sample video of him can be watched over at

More Keenan tomorrow!
